I've come to realise that I spend a lot of my life noticing things.

Over the years I have found myself returning to the same kinds of questions, although they rarely arrive in the same way. Sometimes they emerge through research or conversations with colleagues. Sometimes they appear while walking through the bush, visiting a small community, reading a novel, standing in front of a painting, or watching children make sense of the world. Just as often they arrive unexpectedly, hidden inside ordinary moments that would be easy to overlook.

Although my work has taken me through education, leadership, community development and wellbeing, I have gradually realised that these are not really separate interests. They are simply different ways of exploring the same curiosity: how people create meaning, how communities are shaped, what helps us feel connected, and why some places, conversations and experiences stay with us long after they have passed.

The writing you will find here reflects that curiosity. Some pieces draw on research, while others begin with an observation or a question that lingers long enough to deserve further attention. They are not written to provide answers or to persuade. They are simply an invitation to look a little more closely at the world around us and to wonder what else might be there if we slowed down enough to notice.

If these reflections encourage you to pause for a moment, to see something familiar in a different light, or to ask a question you hadn't considered before, then this journal will have served its purpose.

Thank you for reading.

Ingrid
